Emotional intelligence refers to the ability of an individual to recognise and identify their own emotions as well as the emotions of other people.
It is this ability to discriminate between different emotions that determine the way in which individuals behave in various situations. Emotional assessments can be useful for identifying areas of difficulty so that these can be improved upon with appropriate help.
Emotional assessments can also be useful in helping to identify emotional and personality weaknesses in both children and adults. This information can then be used to teach these individuals to discriminate between different feelings and show empathy towards their peers.
